At Chappaqua Dentistry, we are able to offer all kinds of prosthodontic treatment from veneers to full mouth reconstructions. Our team is highly experienced and we are dedicated to helping all our patients restore their smile. Below, you can find out more about prosthodontics and the types of services we provide.
Prosthodontics is an area of dentistry that involves using prosthetics to repair and rebuild teeth that have been damaged or are missing. It could involve filling in chips and cracks or it could involve replacing entire teeth. Today’s modern prosthetic technology is so advanced that teeth can be repaired and replaced without any signs of previous damage or signs that a replacement tooth isn’t the original one. Using porcelain and composite materials, implants and fillings can be produced to match the color and shape of the rest of your teeth, helping the result to look as natural as possible
We pride ourselves in being one of the top providers of prosthodontics in Westchester. We make all of our own prosthetics and are able to find the solutions based on your dental needs and budget.
If you have damaged or missing teeth, prosthodontics may be a desirable option for you. If you don’t like the appearance of your teeth, getting this treatment could help you to take pride in your smile again and live more happily and confidently. For others, prosthodontics could help to prevent future damage or provide a greater sense of comfort when eating.
Prosthodontics can be used to repair damage caused by injury as well as decay. If you recently suffered an accident that affected your teeth, our team of professionals can help you to restore your smile to its former glory.
At Chappaqua Dentistry, we provide many different types of prosthodontic treatments. Here are just some of the most common forms of treatment that we are able to offer.
Cosmetic bonding is a treatment commonly used to fix up minor chips and cracks. It involves using a composite liquid to fill the gaps. The liquid is tooth-colored to blend in with the natural hue of your teeth. A special light is used to harden the liquid after it has been applied.
Veneers are another common form of treatment used to conceal minor chips and cracks. The chips and cracks in your teeth are filled with a resin composite. A thin layer of porcelain is then placed over the front of the tooth and fixed there. These veneers are manufactured to fit the shape of your tooth.
Fillings, inlays and onlays are used to fix partial damage within teeth. Traditionally, metal was used, but now can be created using tooth-colored composite liquid. Inlays and onlays tend to be used when replacing old fillings.
Dental crowns are used to repair major cracks and chips. They are artificial teeth that are permanently cemented on to the top of the remains of damaged teeth. Crowns are commonly made of porcelain and are designed to fit the shape and color of your other teeth. This helps them to look natural.
Crowns not only look natural but feel natural too. You may still be able to eat regular foods with them, brush them and chew gum with them as if they were real teeth.
When it comes to replacing missing teeth, dental implants can be a great option. They involve fitting an entire artificial where the previous tooth once sat. Dental implants can be used to replace a single missing tooth or multiple missing teeth. Like crowns, they are typically made of porcelain and are designed to mimic the appearance of natural teeth.
Unlike dentures, dental implants are permanently fixed into the gums. They can function much like normal teeth for this reason. They may however not be available to everyone as they require having healthy gums and a healthy jawbone. Feel free to book a consultation with us so that we can determine whether you are able to have this form of prosthodontics.
Dental bridges are used to replace missing teeth. They are different to implants in that they are fixed to surrounding teeth rather than fixed to bone and gums. There are a couple different types of bridges such as traditional dental bridges and bonded dental bridges – we are able to explore multiple options to find the best solution for you.
Bridges are less expensive than implants and don’t require invasive procedures. They can often be good options when an implant isn’t possible.
For those that have suffered serious damage to their teeth, we are also able to provide full mouth reconstructions. This typically involves multiple forms of prosthodontic treatment including implants, bridges, crowns and fillings. Such treatments may be done in stages over a long period or at the same time depending on the level of reconstruction needed.
Dentures can sometimes be the best option in cases where multiple teeth are missing and implants may not be feasible. There are two types of dentures: complete dentures (designed to fit the entire mouth) and partial dentures (designed to fit only part of the mouth). Whatever option you choose, we will work closely with you to help create dentures that look and feel as natural as possible.
